Bombshell Explosion: Stowaway Piano for Royal Caribbean International (RCI)

No matter where you are on a Royal Caribbean International (RCI) cruise ship, the Stowaway Piano player may appear to entertain you. A traveling pianist, the Stowaway Piano player requires an instrument that is just as inventive, mobile, and flexible as he is. Bombshell was called in to retrofit pianos that perform.

Music that moves

Since the Stowaway Piano player randomly materializes anywhere on the ship, the piano is built for speed, traveling on a custom dolly. It is outfitted with decorative elements, inspired by vintage steamer travel trunks and steampunk aesthetics.

Bombshell designs and retrofits standard pianos, while maintaining their ability to function as musical instruments. Our team strips and re-stains the finish, then we add the “move” – a custom welded chassis and brake system, push handles, a lid mechanism, moving gears, pipework, flask holders, metalwork, leather strapping, a bulb horn, travel stickers, and other elements.

Show tunes, anyone?

Each piano is further enhanced with a carpet bag filled with amusement: an applause sign on a plunger that sticks to the top of the piano, a Beethoven bust, candelabra, LED flashing disco lights, and anything else that engages the crowd and makes them laugh.
